So, there is one thing standing in the way of you and your diploma, your Senior Project. First thing to do is decide on a topic, which for me was always the hardest part. After that, it usually flows much better. One thing I have found is that it is easier to come up with great Senior Project Ideas when you are not doing one then it is when you are sitting behind the computer screen trying to think up something to write about. If you are struggling to get that first step behind you, I would like the opportunity to steer you in the right direction. Read on to get some advice on coming up with a senior project idea.

The first thing you will want to do is look at things that interest you. There is more to this then just making it more fun. If you are interested in the topic, then it will come off in your tone and writing, especially if you have to give a presentation. You might think that what interests you is not suitable for a senior project, but you just have to be creative. If you are a gamer, build a video game; a skater, build a skate board; a clothing nut, design an apparel line. The possibilities are endless, the more unique, the better. The better you know a topic, the more original information you will be able put into your senior project. Also, the project will go a lot faster if you already have the material in your head and just have to transfer it to paper.

The second thing you should do is make sure that your senior project idea you choose is one that has enough written about it already. You do not want to get half way through a project only to find out you cannot find enough information to put together a reasonable length project. For most topics, more than enough information can be found; you just need to know where to look. There are people that are good at finding information and know to look in places the average person would never think to look. They are called librarians. Use them; they work in a library for a reason.

Searching the internet for ideas is a great place to start.Search for senior project ideas that people have already done. You can find projects that are complete and are a great place to get ideas on the structure, contents, and organization. Â Be sure not to use too much information from these though. It will be tempting, but plagiarism is illegal and immoral. It will put you in an awkward situation and will ultimately take more time than just doing it the right way.

Have you thought about what you want to do for a career after you are out of school? This is a great opportunity for you to explore your dreams a little more and do your senior project on a career of your liking. You could job shadow a well known person in that field and do an in depth report on the industry and the jobs within it. What kind of ladder is there to climb and what does the chain of command look like? Are there any flaws in the system that you can see? You could set up a sample company and explain the industry, include facts, and explore future trends. The possibilities are endless and should come up unique for each individual person that uses this idea for their senior project.

I will stand by my theory that picking a Senior Project Idea is the hardest part of the project itself. If you can figure this out then you can get it over and done with and be ready to move on to the next stage in your life. I have put a site together that has a list of Senior Project Ideas that I suggest you check out. You can get there by going to http://www.squidoo.com/senior-project-ideas.
